You are in a plane crash (hypothetically), many guns aboard, but only one long gun you can carry. What would you chose and why? Note:
Several types of ammo were also aboard.
Think, think you wankers. A 12 ga shotty can do the job of at least three guns. All you need is the ammunition.

A 12ga rifled slug is a rifle, ammo in buckshot is a shotgun, ammo in bird-shot is a shotgun hunting cartridge. When it comes to diameter lead, 00 is Buckshot good to about 25-40 yards, a rifled slug is one-piece lead good at about 50-75 yards (some use scopes), birdshot is not worth mentioning here. That is for hunting birds.Small scale at 25 yards for small animals.

Bottom line is that if you can ONLY have one gun, make it a shotgun, but understand loads and smooth-bore issues. Rifles have twists that make them accurate, shotties are smoothbore. This is called "rifling", or lack of it.
Shotguns do not have this, thus are only a short range gun. Brits are not too savvy about firearms it seems. Even your police are rookies in using them.

Sorry to say, but an average American knows more about firearms than a beat cop on London's streets, and more than half of these Americans could give firearms lessons to these Brit cops.

I just have never understood why the London Metropolitan Police have stuck with their policies.

Criminals exist in London and all over the UK. Brave officers must confront them daily. Guns, knives, etc. What gets me is that UK Cops don't have a personal, deadly force option. Perhaps a squad of Met is on the way with guns, but the officer is already dead. It takes minutes for help, but seconds to die. That brave MET Officer died because he/she had not a deadly weapon to defuse the situation, and most importantly, save the lives of a potential victim, and/or their own lives.
