Hey Ausfriends, how does it feel to not own any guns?
I have a rifle. It's like having a can of food in your cupboard. Hows that dictatorship you've got going? Guns everywhere didn't help to stop you from bending over and becoming a foreign police state did it.
Dear America: Nuke Australia and China.
So i want to join the ADF Gap year in a few years, is it hard to get in? Is there anything i can do to increase my chance of getting in?
>>1826 agreed by fellow pusser
Haha, patrol boats. They were the best time of my life.
Very hard. Fitness, a good school record and some job references help. Recruiters aren't really in the army though. Think of them as government workers and the recruiting station as centrelink.
fuck you austrian homofags XDDD finland army ebun superior ::-----DDDDDDDDDd

www.minister[DOT]defence.gov.au/2011/09/27/minister-for-defence-science-and-personnel-removal-of-restrictions-on-combat-roles-for-women/ Australia...I am fucking disgust. Pic unrelated but pretty enraging.
>>2178 >implying standards won't be lowered.
The situation for Australia is much different than the situation in the US. ADF is built more as a police force and can (just a nudge more) accept women in combat units. But in all honesty guys like >>2165 >>2178 need to think more about the amount of manual labor it takes to up keep armored vehicles. In a day your could be moving up to tens of tonnes of equipment/ammo. Pic related.
Women shouldn't be in the Army. The Army isn't the Australian Army anymore.
Hey cunts, I'm getting a 22 in the next few months, was probably gonna go with a Winchester Wildcat for four fiddy, comes with one 5 round magazine and 3 10 round magazines, anyone got any recommendations on what I should get? Pic related, Winchest Wildcat
>got any recommendations on what I should get? Something bigger than a toy All depends on what your going to do with it. Shooting tin cans gets boring after a while
>>2155 >Something bigger than a toy Let me be more clear, any recommendations on specific rifles (not just generalizations)? I plan to use it for foxes and rabbits.
22 will be ok for rabbits. If you want something fun, get a shangai and ping rabbits with it. You get good at it after a while and is more fun. .223 is not bad for foxes. They shoot well out to about 200m and a little further if your good and have a heavier grain load up the spout. Speaking of which, Have a look at reloading your own cases. Works out very cheap and again, more fun. Dont get the biggest scope you can. Work on 100m average with 200m max. Hope that helps
So I'm currently going through the recruiting process to be either a combat engineer or tank crewman. I have done the YOU session and didn't do to well with the Assessment Day. I was given 12 months to get some life experience and bulk up a bit more. Does anyone have any tips on how I can make a better impression on the recruiters second time around? tl;dr how can I make a good impression for the recruitment Assessment day?
Would be better if you can go into more detail on the reason they gave you for knocking you back. Also your age/occupation/hobbies. The second time around you're going to want to demonstrate that you have matured a lot in the 12 months since you last saw them. Get a full time job if you don't have one, move out of home if you haven't, take up a team sport such as rugby/aussie rules/basketball, something that shows you are comfortable in a team environment. As far as bulking up a bit, start going to the gym and eating like a horse. There are a lot of resources online as far as beginning weight training goes, look up Starting Strength by rippetoe, check out 4chan's /fit/ board etc. Most gyms give you a free assessment + program when you sign up, following that would probably be fine as well. As far as on the day goes, just treat it like you would any job interview, carry yourself with confidence and if you can show that you are the type of person that will fit in with the ADF culture you should be fine.
Recently turned 18 thinking about joining army only thing im hung up on is the "aptitude" test part i didn't finish year 10 did 10 months of yr 10 (got a job in civil construction instead) anyone know the difficulty of the test?
if youve passed year nine theyll accept you but it also depends on what you apply for
Don't worry about it mate, I did the maths and aptitude test before I was 18, am in year 12 now and its fucking easy. There are restrictions on what you can do with your education but not alot. Pick an infantry position or a trade and you will be fine
Does anybody else here agree that we need conscription? Not for the military manpower it would give us that we really need but for the pride it instils in people and all that shit?
I'd imagine there'd be more pissed of people who resented being forced to do something they don't want to compared to those who gain 'discipline'. Although I'm all for forcing lower class uneducated bogan/wog/gangsta/rat/etc fucks to be conscripted. Maybe they'll learn some respect and if not they might get killed, so win/win.
Has anyone here read Starship Troopers? That is a better system than conscription.
eh it'd be too costly and we don't need it.
stamped steel is so hot
9x39 is even hotter.
Is it possible with machine gun bullets to effectively gauge and utilise trajectory like with artillery shells ? So for example you could hit infantry on a distant hill who are sheltering on the non visible slope ? I notice on this picture the rear sight is quite elevated so that got me wondering.
It isn't so much that it isn't possible since the principals of ballistics will work for both bullets and artillery shells it's more that it's useful for one and not the other. Artillery shells usually explode and so a near miss is just as good as a direct hit. With bullets you have to hit the guy or it has no effect at all and this is the problem. It would only require a change in angle of a fraction of a degree to make the difference between landing short and going over their heads. However there are lost of things that are now possible because of electronic control that weren't before so maybe someone will develop it.
The GPMG M60 fitted to tripod for sustained fire role (heavy barrel and C2 sight) indirect fire (i.e reverse slope) out to 3 km. The NATO std rimless round has a danger range of 7K.
Good luck in trying get that perfect setup so the bullets drop to hit the reverse of a slope let alone hit anything hiding behind it.
I have a tattoo on the back of my neck of a crown, also some script on my forearm. Will this be acceptable to join the ADF? pic unrelated
>>1524 Complete opposite of priority job then if you are trying to get into the RAIC.
Do not worry about it. I got tatts on both my forearms. I was a rifleman then went to Duntroon. Tatts are only a problem in the Army if they are on your hands or face. When you are enlisting the doc will take notes of your tatts and put them on your medical record. This is for identification reasons only.
I know heaps of mates with tattoos on their necks, hands, fingers and ear so I'm pretty sure you have nothing to worry about.
